The all-too familiar, yet unpleasant appearance, of cellulite along the back of the legs and the buttocks can be devastating. Women are more prone than men to these dimpled, “cottage cheese” areas; which can cause embarrassment and impact self-confidence. No amount of diet, exercise, or weight loss can make much improvement with cellule. Until now, the only way to reduce the ugly, bumpy tissue on the legs and buttocks was through liposuction. Luckily, patients in Napa and Sonoma Valley now have Cellfina.
Plastic Surgery Associates in Santa Rosa is excited to be one of the few practices in the United States to offer patients a surgery-free alternative to remove fatty tissue. Cellfina is a cutting-edge treatment, designed to improve the look of dimpled tissue along the thighs and buttocks in one office visit. Cellfina provides dramatic, long-lasting, beautiful results after a single treatment.
Cellfina in Sonoma and Napa Valley:
Cellfina is the only FDA approved, minimally invasive device for the long-term elimination of cellulite. Using never before seen technology, Cellfina gently releases the connective tissue that creates pockets of fatty tissue on the buttocks and legs, smoothing out the “cottage cheese” appearance. The benefits of Cellfina are rapidly noticeable, as well as long lasting. Patients will note a significant improvement in cellulite after three days, and the final results will last for three years or longer. Plastic Surgery Associates’ innovative Cellfina treatment boasts a 94% patient satisfaction rating, even after twelve months.
How and Why of Cellulite:
- Fibrous tissue anchors the skin to the muscles (called septae).
- In men, these fibrous tissues are laid out in a cross-hatched pattern.
- For women, this connective tissue runs vertically, which increases the formation of cellulite.
- Pockets of fat can develop along where the vertical bands of connective tissue, or septae, attach to the muscles, causing the dimpled appearance of cellulite.
- Women have thinner skin than men, making the cellulite more pronounced and easily seen.
- Genetics, hormonal fluctuations, weight changes, and the aging process can all increase the appearance of cellulite.
- More than 80% of all women will notice some amount of cellulite in their lifetime.
The Santa Rosa Cellfina Consultation:
To determine if Cellfina is the right procedure for your unique situation, a complimentary consultation with Dr. Francisco Furnas or Dr. Heather Canales will be scheduled. At this time, patients will have a chance to get to know the surgeons, and find out more information on the Cellfina procedure. Dr. Canales and Dr. Furnas will discuss the benefits and the limitations of this mildy-invaisve procedure. After a quick physical exam, and a discussion of your aesthetic goals, it will be decided if Cellfina can achieve the desired results. If so, a personalized treatment plan featuring Cellfina will be created. The surgeons may also discuss complimentary procedures, such as an abdominoplasty, that would provide optimum body contouring results.
The Ideal Candidate for Cellfina:
Anyone can become frustrated with the unsightly, “cottage cheese” areas on their thighs and buttocks. While women are most susceptible to this situation, many can benefit from the Cellfina procedure. The ideal candidate for Cellfina will understand the treatment, hold reasonable expectations for their results, and be in overall good health. At a consultation appointment with Dr. Furnas or Dr. Canales, it can be determined if Cellfina is the right treatment for you.
How Cellfina is Performed:
Depending on the extent of correction, and areas being treated, the Cellfina procedure will take about 45 minutes to perform in one of Plastic Surgery Associates’ comfortable treatment rooms. The treatment is mildly invasive, meaning there is no need for general anesthesia or IV sedation. Patients are able to rest comfortably at home that same afternoon; and most people return to their normal activities the following day.
Upon arrival at the office, Dr. Canales or Dr. Furnas will mark the desired treatment area. Next, using the small Cellfina applicator, the target area of cellulite will be suctioned into the device. This allows the area to be pulled taut and smooth, as well as fully stretching the septae (connective bands) for easy treatment. Next, a local anesthetic is applied to the area using Cellfina’s groundbreaking, misting technique.
Once the target skin is numb, the surgeon will begin treatment. The Cellfina hand piece contains an extremely tiny reciprocating saw, which will gently cut through the fibrous connective bands, separating the septae. The process, referred to as subcision, can address up to 25 individual, dimpled areas of cellulite in less than an hour.
Recovering From Cellfina:
The recovery from a Cellfina treatment will take between seven and fourteen days. However, most patients are feeling well enough to return to work or school the day after their Cellfina procedure. Bruising, swelling, and redness are common. These will dissipate over the two weeks following treatment. Mild discomfort may be experienced for the first few days, although over the counter pain medications should provide sufficient pain relief.
In about three days, patients will notice the treatment area looking smoother and tighter. As bands of connective tissue fully release, the skin will bounce back to an even, taut appearance. The results from Cellfina can still be appreciated over three years later.
