Napa & Santa Rosa Plastic Surgeon Dr. Francisco Canales
Since 1992, Dr. Francisco (Paco) Canales of Santa Rosa's Plastic Surgery Associates on Quigg Drive, has served the plastic surgery needs of patients from Marin County, Sonoma and Napa, as well as those from outside of the country.
Originally from Puerto Rico, Dr. Canales earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Harvard College in 1978, and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Stanford University in 1982. He completed his surgical training, as well as his Plastic Surgery Residency at Stanford University Hospital.
Prior to co-founding Santa Rosa's Plastic Surgery Associates with his wife, Dr. Heather Furnas, Dr. Canales opened a practice in Boston, where he received a faculty appointment in plastic surgery at Harvard Medical School. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Canales relocated to Sonoma County, where he served as Chief of Plastic Surgery at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, as well as Chief of Surgery at Warrack Hospital.
Today, he is board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the elite American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
During his college career, Dr. Canales was captain of the Harvard swim team, as well as a member of his native Puerto Rico's national swim team. He competed in a great number of international competitions, including the 1976 Montreal Olympics. He now enjoys Masters Swimming with the Santa Rosa Masters Swimming Team.
When Dr. Canales isn't returning to Latin America to volunteer his surgical skills to repair cleft lips and other birth defects in children from Nicaragua, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Argentina or Kenya, he also enjoys spending time with his wife and their two children, Diego and Siena.
